Studio Update No.1

Greetings, Subscriber First Name!

I want to thank you for signing up to my email list. I am making my email newsletter a pivotal part of my art business model and I am excited to reach out and share what I am doing in the studio. In these newsletters I will be sharing information about my latest shows where you can go and see my work on display, current sales and listings of originals and prints you can buy on my website, www.benladieuart.com, discounts and promos that will be exclusive for the email list, events, photos and anything else that may pertain to my art.

With that out of the way, let's get started!

Currently showing:

Art Association of Harrisburg - 21 N Front St, Harrisburg, PA 17101. I won 1st place in the drawings category for my piece: The way back, which showing till August 18th.

Upstream Gallery’s PaperWorks 2022: Expanding Boundaries show at Hastings on Hudson, NY 10706. I have three pieces from my Fantastical Roots Series: Thornhidledel, Ogthyliyn and Banoch currently showing till August 21st.

Up and coming shows

Berks Art Alliance, Open Juried Exhibition - September 10 to October 11, 2022. The show will be exhibiting in the Schmidt Gallery, Goggle Works Center For the Arts, 201 Washington Street, Reading, PA 19601. My piece Here Long Ago was accepted into the show.

Strange Figurations - October 13 - November 5, 2022, Limner Gallery, 123 Warren St, Hudson, NY 12534. This is a very intersting show as the theme was looking for interpretations of surreal, visionary and extraordinary figurative art. I am honored that I had my piece Seafood and Eat accepted for this prestigious exhibition.

Perry County Council of the Arts (PCCA) Annual Juried Show - October 1st thru the 27th - Landis House, 67 N. Fourth Street, Newport, PA 17074. I submitted two pen & ink pieces Swamp and Tomer and Asofel. Tomer and Asofel was awarded First in Other Media, and BEST IN SHOW!!!

I am excited that I have made it into every show that I applied to thus far and have won a few prizes too!

Finally, There will be a group tour of artist studios in the Harrisburg, Hershey and Hummelstown area where my mother and I will both be exhibiting our work in my mother’s art studio. This is a driving tour with a list of artist addresses and you can travel to see their work. I will have more information about this tour soon. The dates for the tour are October 15th and 16th.

Sales/promo:

Currently on the site www.benladieuart.com I do not have anything for sale. This will be updated soon and my next newsletter will contain discounts for a few limited edition prints from my Fantastical Roots series as well as originals that will be for sale.

Art Update:

Here is a sneak peak at my latest piece, Harollynyth, in the Fantastical Roots series. I plan to do 6 to 10 more drawing in this series over the next few months.

I am also planning to complete a pencil drawing similar in the style to my recent pencil pieces Here long Ago and The Way Back. I already have an image in mind for it.

In parallel with with my pen & ink and pencil work I plan to begin developing a graphic series in the vein of Moebius & Jodorowsky's - The Eyes of the Cat. This project will be drawn digitally, which truth be told, I have never really explored digital drawing before, so this will be a challenging task for sure. Each panel will be a full blown illustrative work. Each panel will be designed not for the audience to just skim by like in standard comic formats, but to stop and fully engage with the art. Each panel will illustratively tell a story without dialog.

I have been world-building the universe for this project for many years now and I feel I have enough content written for more series in the future . My goal is to release 1 panel a month. I will give more details on the project as it develops.
